Longtime Houston attorney Tom Kirkendall's observations on developments in law, business, medicine, culture, sports, and other matters of general interest to the Houston business, professional, and academic communities.
Most reasonable people agree The DHS should be eliminated, but most informed people know that DHS is really an important economic stimulus program, and though it’s okay to criticize it, at the end of the day, most savvy politicians are reluctant to openly advocating it’s demise, because, after all, without DHS, unemployment would spike, and the rippling effect of a flood of former DHS employees applying for Food Stamps etc., It’s just not the kind of problems any politician would be excited to have to do something about.
