Longtime Houston attorney Tom Kirkendall's observations on developments in law, business, medicine, culture, sports, and other matters of general interest to the Houston business, professional, and academic communities.
Skater, I know. The point is that Nike made a huge mistake in exposing its primary endorser to an ill-advised commercial that is fast becoming a spoof video on the level of the Hitler/Downfall video.
Any commercial that they could make would be parodied. At this time there seems to be no such thing as bad publicity when it comes to celebrity pitches.
You may be right that any publicity is good publicity. But it seems that it depends on the market that Nike is trying to cultivate. My sense is that the golf markets that Nike is addressing through its new Tiger commercial are not as cultivated by parody videos as some other markets might be.

I hate to burst your world view, but this is not a real nike commercial. It is a parody.

BTW, Nike pulled the commercial off the air yesterday.
