Third Circuit Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr. is President Bush’s new nominee to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. Larry Ribstein provides an overview of Judge Alito’s decisions in business cases, Orin Kerr believes that Judge Alito will ultimately be viewed as being quite similar to Justice Roberts and, thus, easily confirmed, and Doug Berman provides the early analysis of the nomination from a criminal justice standpoint.
Hi Tom,
After seeing your blog/commentary I thought the following article authored by Brian Hamilton CEO Sageworks Inc called “Accounting for Bullies” may be interesting to you. The article alludes to how Eliot Spitzer’s recent activities may be detrimental to the Entrepreneurial spirit in the US.
Accounting for Bullies

One of the lesser-known facts about the age of McCarthyism is that Senator Joseph McCarthy and the House Un-American Activities Committee were able to identify some legitimate scandal during their brief period of fame. McCarthy and his Committee actually unearthed some real communists and some even admitted to the Committee that they had at one time been a member of the Communist Party. However, many others were falsely accused. In the entertainment industry alone 324 were blacklisted. History teaches us that not only can tyrants be popular for a short time, but they can even be right sometimes about the particular points in a group they are attempting to demonize under the guise of public duty.
I hope Ms. Crump realizes she was not filling out an email form, but rather a blog comment box. I certainly wouldn’t want my phone number known to the swindlers, skalawags, and lawyers that frequent this blog. 😉
Don, you sound as if you think there is a difference between the three….=D
