C.T. wins a Dove Award

christomlin.jpgChris Tomlin, my old friend who has been the subject of these previous posts, was awarded a prestigious Dove Award for Best Praise and Worship Album of the Year by the Gospel Music Association in its awards show on Wednesday night in Nashville. Chris’ award-winning album — Arriving — has been at the top of the contemporary Christian music charts for months now.
This richly deserved award could not have been won by a nicer fellow than C.T. However, the honor will still not stop me from continuing to throttle him on the golf course. That’s just the way it is in big golf games.

  1. AMEN and AMEN
I was there at the Dove awards as a spectator or more accurately as a worshipper-warrior of our Holy God. I was elated to see Chris and his travelers win because truthfully, there is such an honesty and holiness about Chris that is captivating and inspiring. I was disturbed to discern that much of the Christian music industry is plagued by ungodliness and blatant immorality which in all honesty distinguishes it not from that of secular music. But there on the left side of the stage sat a group of revolutionaries (Sixsteps family)- radical lovers of Jesus who stand out as holy, and blameless in the sight of God and man to usher in the manifest presence of God. When Chris and the gang took the stage there fell a midst over the crowd. Have you ever heard the term “Shekinah glory?” Yeah, well, that is what it was and if you were alert to the things of God, you would have seen the Cloud of His glory as soon as Chris opened his mouth to sing and the Cloud lifted when they left the stage. Compelled by the Spirit of God to congratulate him, I came to see in his eyes a depth of authenticity, purity and relationship with Jesus which goes vastly deeper than any photo on a CD jewel case or web site can capture. I walked away from our encounter which lasted all of a few minutes knowing that I shook hands with a very holy man of God who has such a tender and genuine spirit, not to mention a fantastically wonderful sarcastic sense of humor who?s not afraid to wear his emotions on his sleeve. I bless Chris and ask that God would cause everything his hands touch to prosper- even his golf game J
Praise, Glory and honor be unto the Desire of Nations, Jesus, for the work that He is doing through Chris.
