I hope you posted this as a parody. Friedman has the bizarre belief that government is something removed from the people or to contrast him with Lincoln, when a government is of the people, by the people, and for the people, it shall not perish from the Earth. Mexico has a privatized educational system and no real minimum wage, to pick two of many similarities it shares with a Friedmanian system, and it is on the edge of being a failed state. One more thing. I don't mean to suggest that the US at the present is Lincoln's dream. I believe that the government can now be described two ways: Corporatist as Perot recently suggested and Oligarchical as Simon Johnson constantly points out on the Baseline Scenario. The question is where do we head through the fog.
