Interesting, but also an example of how people can use a presentation format to bend their story. The starting data is about as dispersed as the ending data, with Africa lagging and Europe leading. What looks like a pull-away by richer nations is largely just a change in monetary scale. It is the change in life expectancy that is more profound overall, but perhaps not as profound on a relative basis. Bottom line -- there was already a huge disparity in world lifestyles, living conditions and health at the starting point of the analysis. That is not a new phenomenon. Of course, trhere have been some interesting journeys by individual nations.

Money is only a symbol. Change is in monetary scale is always a result and not a cause of of lifestyle improvement.
