Whew!

BerkmanandLidge.jpgOnce again, the Stros are within a game of the first World Series in franchise history.

I take back everything I said about Wily Taveras, who in a reserve role scored the winning run and made a clutch catch on Tal's Hill to close out the top of the eighth.

Adam Everett is simply the smoothest shortstop ever to wear a Stros uniform, and Eric Bruntlett can flat out trigger a double-play.

And Brandon Backe -- while a below-average National League starting pitcher -- has a far above-average heart.

By the way, the Stros have now won three out of four games in the NLCS by scoring a total of 13 runs. After scoring five runs in the first five innings of the NLCS, the Cardinals have scored a total of five runs over the past 30 innings.

Tom,

Where do I start, well, Lidge is having issues, granted it's against the Cardinals best hitters, But I should expect us to be the cardiac kids anyway. Houston Teams never win anything easy, but we seem to be getting it done. Why?

I’ll tell you, we are keeping Pujouls from hitting anything but a single that is huge. St. Louis hitting has been suspect for the second half of the season anyway. I expect Pujouls to get hits, but our pitchers are doing a fine job of not helping him by allowing the other players to get a base hit so he can drive them home.

There are so many things that we are doing right, playing small ball, getting timely HR’s, awesome pitching. No matter what happened today with the umps, it cannot overshadow the fact that these guys have the "Heart of a Champion" and want to win!

All I can say now is, GET ‘ER DONE on Monday night and let’s get this team to its first ever

WORLD SERIES!!!!!

GO ‘STROS

It's about time you changed your stance on Taveras.
One more win....

Yes, the heart of a champion is key. What is Garner going to do with the lineup against Carpenter??

Rich, my sense is that Garner will stand pat on the lineup that he has used for the past two games, starting Burke in CF in place of Taveras, Lamb at first, and Berkman in left.

It's about time for the Stros to get to Carpenter . . .
